The rules this ledger follows
From Ontario’s Municipal Elections Act, 1996.
- No one may give more than $1,200 to this campaign, in total, in money, goods or services.
- Cash is capped at $25 per contributor. Anything more comes by cheque, e-transfer or card, so there is a paper trail.
- Only people who live in Ontario may contribute.
- Corporations, unions and groups can’t contribute, and neither can a business through a special discount, which would count as a contribution.
- The candidate’s and spouse’s own money counts toward the self-funding cap, including goods and services they provide.
- The Form 4 financial statement is due to the Clerk by March 30, 2027, and becomes a public record.
